A bet you there are a lot of people out there that wonder how you make a video go viral. I mean, some of the material that people put out there, I mean…wow. You definitely have to know your audience. Pets, kids, silly stunts, we’ve seen it all. But how to they do it? How does the everyday Joe get their video seen my thousands, sometimes millions? Sometimes it can be a daunting task, but it can be done. You just have to show them what they want to see. You must appeal to the audience by entertaining them, informing them, or just plain relating to them. But there are some technical ways to go about this process.

One way to get your video go viral is by posting comments on subject related videos. This helps tremendously because you are building relationships with entrepreneurs that are in your niche. They typically come and return the favor and watch some of your videos, even share them if they like them enough. They might even learn a thing or two from you.

Another way is be creative with your YouTube tagging. Make sure you identify the generic and specific relationships between your tag and the video itself. Be brand-specific. You definitely want to get your name out there no matter what is you are advertising. YouTube will also auto-suggest certain tags and you should most definitely use those, they do know what they are talking about!

A really cool and effective way to go viral on YouTube is to get your videos to rank. What does that mean? When someone types in a search for “cute kittens” and you have a video on cute kittens you want it to be the first thing they see on the first page of the YouTube search. How do you do that? Results are sorted by relevance, user channels, playlists, and videos. So the description of your video must be very detail-oriented. Making sure your tags are accurate as well as having a short and catchy, yet descriptive title makes all the difference when trying to rank high on YouTube. Tags, description, and title are the three factors you need to look at. People have also found that purchasing views through YouTube or AdWords simply does not work, so don’t waste your time or money.

A good way to go viral is to utilize social media. That’s right, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, you name it. Get on there and market yourself. Ask your friends to share the video with others on their wall. Get people to comment on your post and sharing it as well. Then there are bloggers. If they see a cool video, they may just write a blog about it. That is only going to help you in the long run.

Most importantly, don’t sell yourself short. If you have something cool to share or important to say just do it and allow yourself to shine. It really isn’t very hard.
