Anyone who’s ever been into a casino or visited an online gambling website will probably have a basic understanding of the game of Blackjack, but most never progress past this for whatever reason. You see; if you really want to play this game like a professional, there’s many different elements you’ll have to learn and understand, otherwise you might well find yourself out of pocket much quicker than you first imagined. Just like anything in life, practise makes perfect. This, alongside dedication and a good mathematical brain is essential if you really want to make the big bucks when sat at a table or logged into your favourite casino website.
So, you probably want some tips from me, right? Well, luckily for you I’ve been playing Blackjack professionally for the last 3 years, and in that time I’ve managed to earn myself a whopping £84,000, so I definitely know what I’m talking about. You might think this is a game of chance – and you’d be right to a degree – but there’s still a lot you can do to tip the odds in your favour, especially if you’re capable of retaining large amounts of numerical information in your mind. Here’s the lowdown…
Learning The Rules
This is the most important step and should be performed first if you don’t want to risk unnecessarily losing lots of your money. You should be able to pick up a few books that explain the rules from any of your local bookshops or via online websites like Amazon. I’m not going to attempt to explain them here because this is only a short article, and we’ve got a lot more to get through. Sufficed to say, only a fool would risk his cash without first doing his homework.
Keep An Eye On Other People’s Bets
If you’re sat at a Blackjack table in your local casino, it’s should be pretty obvious where your gambling associates are putting their money. Make sure you watch this and try to identify a pattern. Being as you’re new to the whole thing, it’s more than likely others at the table will understand the game better than you, and there’s no better way to learn new techniques than with hands on experience. Sadly, most casinos will throw you out if they suspect you of counting cards, but if you can do it without drawing attention to yourself, I say go for it. It’s about time the casinos lost a bit of money, right?
Know When To Walk Away
For me, this is a skill that took a while to learn. You see; you don’t want to walk away from the table at the height of your game or when you’re on a winning streak because there could be much more money coming your way. You also want to avoid playing on when you’re losing constantly because it just might not be your day. Finding a healthy medium is your goal. Personally, I leave after my first losing bet following a winning streak, but it’s not always so simple when you’re excited.
Anyway, I’ve got to head off now. I’ve entered an online poker tournament, and it starts in around 15 minutes, leaving me just enough time to make myself a cup of tea and begin considering my strategy for the day.
Wish me luck!
