Do you have trouble with maths at school? Math can seem confusing and complex, but once you start to understand maths a bit better you can begin to learn. To do this effectively you’ll need to be a good maths pupil – you won’t be able to mess around and still expect to learn. Maths can be beneficial to our future careers, future courses we want to take and obviously we use it in everyday life. Put the effort in to learn maths and you’ll reap the benefits!
Go To Your Maths Class
Make sure you don’t miss your maths classes. Missing maths classes means you’ll have to learn what you missed from a textbook or friend, and that won’t be anywhere near as helpful as learning it from a teacher! Make sure you show up with all the books you need, all the equipment and your head screwed on!
Make Notes
Make notes as your teacher works out problems on the board and clearly show your workings out so you can look back on it later. Write down anything your teacher says that better helps you to understand the problems!
Do Your Homework The Day Your Get It
Your homework will be fresh on your mind the day you get it so try to do it ASAP. Obviously that isn’t always possible so do it as soon as you can and make sure it’s done for your next lesson or at least the date it’s assigned.
Join A Study Group
It can help to join a study group with people who can help you. You should try to steer clear of study groups who are all lower level students than you, as students who are higher level students can really help you get better.
Start With The Easiest Concepts
In school you’ll usually start with the easiest concepts when learning maths and then progress to the harder concepts. For example:
- Arithmetic – these are fairly simple concepts including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
- Algebra – algebra includes learning about subjects such as fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, percentages and adding them together, multiplying them etc.
- Geometry – this subject will teach you about lines, shapes, segments and angles.
- Algebra 2 – this is more complex than regular algebra and you’ll learn about more complicated subjects such as quadratic equations.
- Trigonometry – this subject teaches you useful ways to calculate angles, and lengths of lines. Great for if you fancy becoming an architect in the future!
- Calculus – this subject will teach you more about functions and limits.
These are just a few of the subjects that you’ll learn about in your mathematics classes. If you really want to excel in the subject you could get a private math tutor or the maths doctor to help you. Remember that maths is important in our day to day lives as well as our jobs. It can be difficult to grasp, but if you try your hardest you can’t go wrong! You’ll be a mathematical genius in no time.
