No one likes getting pulled over by the police for speeding. But, it’s even worse when the car that pulls you over is undercover. You somehow feel cheated and lied to. To avoid this in the future, you should follow these tips to help you spot an undercover police car.

Check How Low It Sits At The Back
One of the telltale signs of an undercover police car is that it sits low at the back. This is because they need to have loads of different equipment stashed away in the trunk. Consequently, the rear end of the car is dropped down significantly lower than it should be. This is surprisingly easy to spot, particularly if you know the type of car undercover cops are driving in your area.
Watch Out For Cameras
All unmarked police cars will have cameras that are either hidden or in plain view. Nowadays, having a camera on the dashboard of your car isn’t as random as it once was. We’re in an age where everyone is filming everything, so, it stands to reason a regular person could have a camera on their dashboard. However, it’s still fairly rare, and police cars often have more equipment on their dash too. So, if you see a camera with loads of other technical equipment beside it, it’s probably a police car. You should also look closely at the rear number plate as that’s where a lot of hidden cameras are too.

Look For Extra Lights
An easy way to determine if a car is secretly a police car is to look if there are any extra lights on the body or on the dashboard that you can see. Obviously, you’ll need to be driving pretty slow to get a good look at these features. Or, you might be walking down the street and just want to try and spot any undercover cars. Either way, look out for emergency vehicle lights that may be subtly installed on the car. These are there for when the undercover cop breaks their cover and needs to chase a perp. Naturally, having a great big light on the top like a normal police car won’t look very conspicuous. So, they try and hide them using LED lights, but you can still see them if you look closely.
Survey The Driving Style
Police officers have a certain way of driving that differs from most people on the roads. What I mean by this is they tend to follow the rules of the road to a tee. They’ll actually drive 30 in a 30 zone, they’re the only ones being cautious on the motorways. If you spot a car that’s driving suspiciously – and by this I mean it’s driving very cautiously and not how you’d expect – then it could be an undercover cop. Naturally, if you notice this, start looking for all the additional features too. If there’s a camera on the dash and you think you spot hidden lights, then it’s probably an undercover police car.
Follow these steps, and you’ll no longer get pulled over by undercover police that you didn’t know were stalking you.
