Do you ever get the feeling that sometimes your body just doesn’t want to play ball anymore? If you have symptoms such as feeling sluggish or lethargic, perhaps you might have aches and pains in your body, or perhaps your digestive system is telling you that you have a blockage or two in your pipework somewhere, then you might need to have a body detox!
Although you might think this is something that has only been practiced by people in recent years, the art of body detoxification has actually been practiced for many centuries around the world!
Why should I detox my body?
In today’s modern society, it is all too easy to eat and drink things that are bad for us. We Americans are all very busy people, and we just simply don’t have the time to check all of the ingredients in everything single thing we eat and drink.
The result of this, of course, is that our bodies are being filled with all sorts of toxins that can create new medical conditions or contribute to existing ones. In order to eradicate, or in the very least, minimize the chances of us feeding our bodies these nasty toxins, we will need to make a few manageable adjustments in our lives.
How do I know if I need to detox my body?
If you experience any of the following symptoms, then you should be detoxing your body:
Feeling tired, unexplained periods of general fatigue;
Itchy or irritated skin;
Allergies, either new ones or more intense existing allergies;
How do I detox my body?
Assuming that you are experiencing any of those symptoms above (or a combination thereof), then here are the steps you should be taking to detox your body.
1. Cut down on the amount of toxins
The first thing you should be doing is cutting down on the number of toxins that are entering your body. For example, this could be giving up smoking or drinking alcohol, avoid unhealthy foods filled with cholesterol or high levels of saturated fat, salt or sugar, and stop drinking coffee.
2. Cut down on the stress
Our busy and often hectic lifestyles result in our having increased levels of stress. Therefore, you should look to ways of reducing the amount of stress that enters your life.
One of the major problems of stress is that it can release some stress hormones in our bodies, which are pretty bad toxins. Constant releases of these stress hormones can lead to all sorts of medical complaints.
Many Americans find that taking up yoga, for example, helps them to release any stress from their bodies, and to reset their physical and mental mindsets.
3. Eat and drink healthy foods and drinks
The next step is to determine what healthy foods and drinks you should be eating so that you can have a healthy, balanced diet.
Obesity is one of the most common causes of disease and fatalities in developed nations such as the United States, so it is important to make sure that you are not putting bad things into your body if you can help it!
For example, if you are a tea drinker, then you should consider drinking herbal teas such as chaga tea, whose ingredients contain powerful antioxidants. Fresh fruit and vegetables are also proven to be rich in nutrients and antioxidants. No-one is saying that you need to become a vegetarian, by the way, but you should definitely have a more balanced diet.
